Global consulting and research organization Global Data has reported that with the declining cost of pv inverter, predicts 2020, the Global photovoltaic inverter proceeds from $2014 in 5.7 billion (RMB 35.4 billion) to $5.2 billion (RMB 32.3 billion).

The report says that although pv capacity is increasing, the cost of photovoltaic inverters has dropped rapidly and the cost of photovoltaic inverters is expected to fall by 20-25 per cent by 2020.

GlobalData, a senior analyst at PrasadTanikella explained, "in 2010, the average price is $0.48 per watt of photovoltaic inverter, this is more than the price has fallen by 60% since 2006. And, because of various positive subsidies began to drop, affect the photovoltaic Power and photovoltaic inverter requirements, in the next five years, the price of photovoltaic inverter will continue to decline. Many large suppliers including MA Solar Technology, the Power - One which KACO New Energy and Refusol are expanding production, the market is expected to reach saturation."

As far as the region is concerned, 10 of the world‘s 15 largest photovoltaic manufacturers are based in Europe, while five are in North America and the asia-pacific region. Germany‘s SMA Solar Technology is the world‘s largest manufacturer of photovoltaic inverters, with a market share of 9-11 per cent in 2014, followed by China‘s sunbeam power supply, with a global market share of 9-10.5%.

In addition, ABB, the Swiss electricity and automation specialist, was the world‘s second largest manufacturer of photovoltaic inverters, with a market share of about 10 per cent in 2013. But in 2014, ABB‘s global market share fell to around 4-5 per cent, as the number of installations in Europe, its main strategic market, fell rapidly.
